On June 13, Russell RCMP arrested 81-year-old Constantin Turcoane from Regina.

The arrest is related to reports of sexual assaults dating back to the early 1970s when Turcoane was a priest at St. Elijah Romanian Orthodox Church in Lennard, Manitoba.

A woman in her 60s reported being assaulted multiple times by Turcoane when she was 11-12 years old.

After an extensive investigation, Turcoane turned himself in and has been released with a court date. Police believe there may be more survivors and are asking them to contact Russell’s RCMP detachment at  204-773-2675.
