Premier Scott Moe discusses pipeline protests during visit to Yorkton on Tuesday

The Saskatchewan economy is taking a huge hit because of anti-pipeline protests affecting rail and passenger service in parts of the country.

Premier Scott Moe, who was in Yorkton Tuesday night, said we could feel this hit for a long time to come.

“I talked with a major manufacturer today (Tuesday) that has a number of products that are also stopped on trains across this nation while headed for export markets, so the impact on the Saskatchewan economy is present, it’s there today,” Moe said. ” it will also be felt for weeks to come after trains get back up and running,” he added.

Saskatchewan has seen agri-food and potash product stuck on trains across the nation.

Moe states that he’ll look for leadership, if not from the Prime Minister, then from the premiers at the Council of Federation Call on  Wednesday.
