Environment Canada has placed a number of regions in the province under a wind warning to wrap up the weekend.

The cities of Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Yorkton and other areas will see a gradual increase in wind speed starting this morning.

According to the weather agency, wind gusts could reach 90 kilometres per hour by late morning.

These strong winds may be capable of causing damage or possibly causing injury to residents.

Damage to homes or buildings including windows, roof shingles and other property may occur, and loose objects could be tossed around by sudden wind gusts.

Winds are expected to diminish to 50 km/h by the afternoon with gusts of 70 km/h. It’s expected that gusts should moderate in western areas in the afternoon and eastern areas by this evening.

In Regina, more cloud cover is expected throughout the day and there is also a 30 per cent chance of rain this afternoon.

The skies should start clearing up by this evening.
