Queen City Ex introducing new foods to the fair in 2019

The Queen City Ex has many new different types of foods for people to try this weekend.

Various items such as the Cotton Candy Taco, flamin’ cheeto corndogs, and butterbeer soft serve ice cream will be available for patrons of the fair, which kicked off Wednesday.

Regina Exhibition Association Limited spokesperson Sabeen Ahmad said there’s also an expansion of vegetarian options this year.

“It allows other people who, for lack of a better word, don’t have a chance to check out the ‘normal’ corn-dog, now you have a veggie option,” Ahmad said. “You have the option of Korean-fried Cauliflower, there’s a number of different items that vegetarians can try as well.”

Ahmad said there will also be a local flair to the food options this year.

“This year also, Saskatchewan Flavours is launching a signature dish as well from our own locally-made items, so locally-made perogies and sausage,” Ahmad said. “That’s also on the fair grounds, so it’s nice to feature some local products as well.”

Ahmad said it’s a once a year treat for those who come out.

“You have five days to do a little taste testing and try some things you probably wouldn’t think of like a crab stuffed burger or the potato-less poutine,” Ahmad said. “It’s unique, it’s different, and like I said, it’s only once a year you get a chance to do a little taste-testing of unique flavours that you probably wouldn’t have in your regular diet.”

The Queen City Ex is running until Sunday.
