Melville Millionaires, Melfort Mustangs & Kindersley Klippers improve to 2-0 on young SJHL season

BRUINS 2, MILLIONAIRES 7 

Ryan Roethke continued his impressive opening weekend on Saturday night, netting two more goals to lead the Melville Millionaires to a dominant 7-2 victory over the Estevan Bruins.

Roethke, who now boasts five goals this season, also added an assist.

Simon Parini (2), Raiden Zacharias, Leo Jewitt, and Jadon Iyogun contributed to the scoreboard with goals of their own. Odin George and Rorey Elson scored for the Bruins.

Starting goalie Loic Morin made 11 saves on 13 shots for Melville, while Nick Genette stopped all five shots he faced in the third period.

The Moneymen are back in action on Friday night, welcoming the Notre Dame Hounds.

ICE WOLVES 3 , HAWKS 2

Grayden Perozini clinched the game winner just 5:03 into the third period, steering the La Ronge Ice Wolves to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Nipawin Hawks.

Jacob Hufty and Zane Normand also found the back of the net for the Ice Wolves, while Will Whitter and Brady Seabrook kept the Hawks in contention.

Ice Wolves’ netminder Graham Brown was sensational, stopping 36 out of 38 shots, whereas Gage Roberts made 23 saves in a valiant effort for Nipawin.

HOUNDS 3, BRONCOS 6 

Maddox Amaral and Gabriel Filion both scored twice, while Édouard Gauthier made 23 impressive stops, leading the Humboldt Broncos to a 6-3 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds.

Boris Kofman and Connor Miller also found the back of the net for the Broncos. For the Hounds, Ian Buors scored twice and Neka Jean added to their tally.

BATTLEFORDS 3, KINDERSLEY 5 

The Kindersley Klippers triumphed over the Battlefords North Stars with a 5-3 win, thanks to two goals from Alex Mack and an impressive 1G 2A performance by Tristan Taylor.

Rylan Wieler and Ethan Sautner also found the back of the net for the Klippers, while Gavin Granger, Colton Getzlaf, and Jackson Allan scored for the Battlefords.

Brett O’Halloran was stellar in goal, saving 39 out of 42 shots and leading the Klippers to a perfect 2-0 start to the season.

BOMBERS 2, MUSTANGS 6 

The defending champion Melfort Mustangs improved to 2 and 0 after a 6-2 victory over the Flin Flon Bombers at the Northern Lights Palace. 

Logan Belton (2G), Reilly Kotai (1G 1A) and  Bo Eisnor (1G 1A) led the way offensively for the Mustangs with two points each, while Jake Giacabbo and Nicholas Andrusiak also scored. 

Keefe Gruener responded with both goals for the Bombers, who dropped to 1-1 on the season.
