“Hard to believe it’s the end of September!” That’s what most people were saying about the weather this week across the province. Wednesday (Sept 25th) saw records fall all over Saskatchewan thanks to unseasonably warm temperatures. The normal high for this time of year is 16 degrees Celsius and the normal low is just one degree. That was not the case most of the days this week, especially Wednesday.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada a new weather record was set in Moose Jaw on Wednesday of 35C breaking a 2014 record of 33.2C. Rockglen reached 31.8C on Wednesday breaking a 2011 record of 31.1C. The Saskatoon area hit 33.2C beating 32.7C in 2001. Watrous climbed to 33.7C exceeding their record of 30.9C in 2011. Wynyard also set a record on Wednesday of 31.4C. The previous record was 30 in 2011.

Other communities in Saskatchewan that saw records fall included Rosetown reaching 34C beating a record of 33.8C in 2001. Outlook climbed to 33.6C surpassing their record of 32.4 in 2001.

More weather records may be set this Sunday. According to the latest forecast, temperatures are expected to exceed 30 degree Celsius.
