Canola farmers in Canada are concerned about recent rail shipping disruptions and the impact on farm income.

Police in Ontario have removed a blockade in eastern Canada and rail disruptions to the West Coast have been removed.

The president and CEO of the Canadian Canola Growers Association, Rick White, says it will take months to clear the grain export backlog.

White says there are over 50 grain ships waiting to load grain at the West Coast, twice the normal amount.

White says there is in excess of 20 thousand rail car orders unfilled and some prairie grain elevators are getting plugged up.

White says a CN rail strike, derailments and the protests have all caused grain export delays and tarnished Canada’s reputation as a reliable grain supplier.
