This week is Fire Prevention Week. Some things you may need to be reminded of are; checking your smoke detector, replacing batteries, you may even need to install new smoke detectors. Your family should be prepared with an escape plan from your home, shop, barn or office as far as an emergency plan goes. Stopping into your local fire hall is a great idea if you are unsure about certain things. And as the holiday season approaches there is a list to remind you of the dangers of keeping electrical devices plugged all the time, having lit candles, not being present when cooking. There are many things that can go wrong, when least expected.

The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work For You”.

Good Morning Saskatchewan had a chance to speak with Fire Chief Lane Jackson about Fire Prevention Week. And a reminder that there are open houses taking place this week, including tonight at Fire Hall #4 3855 Dewdney Avenue, Regina from 6 to 8pm. The second of the two is coming up on Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30 at Fire Hall #1, 2585 13th Avenue (13th and Albert Street) Regina, Saskatchewan.
