Saskatchewan Women in Ag is gearing up for their annual conference dedicated to engaging, inspiring, and educating women in Saskatchewan’s agriculture sector. “Connect – The Heart of the Farm” conference will be held November 7th and 8th at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel in Saskatoon. The event features a number of guest speakers including Murad Al-Katib of AGT Foods, Lesley Kelly of High Heels and Canola Fields, and Alanna Koch of the Global Institute for Food Security at the University of Saskatchewan.

“A lot of the speakers we’re bringing in this year are Saskatchewan based speakers, explained Shelby LaRose, Director and Communications Committee Lead of Saskatchewan Women in Ag. “A lot of people that are leaders in the industry and that are really paving the way, so we’re really looking forward to bringing more of that Saskatchewan audience to the conference.”

In addition to several guest speakers, there will also be presentations from Ag in the Classroom, the Magpie Group, and Do More Ag. The conference will include a trade show featuring Saskatchewan vendors and businesses where conference attendees can do some shopping. For LaRose, the conference is a great learning experience that she feels benefits her career in agriculture.

“I enjoy the networking opportunities, seeing lots of people that I don’t necessarily see in my day-to-day work, but also learning from our speakers.”
