(Audio) Regina “Swiftie” details her experience at concert

It’s no secret that the biggest female artist in the world right now is Taylor Swift and “Swifties” from all over Canada united in Toronto over the weekend to see her perform live at Rogers Centre. One of those Taylor Swift fans was Melissa Fiacco of Regina.

“It was magical,” beamed Fiacco. “It was just the most magical, joyful experience of girlhood from the anticipation and the planning, to actually being there in this shared, collective experience, it was magical.”

Fiacco says it wasn’t easy getting tickets to the show because demand was so high. It was her friend, also named Melissa, who was luckily enough to score a code that allowed Fiacco to get to the show in Toronto.

“Circumstances did not allow her to use it and she offered it to me because she really wanted to ensure that the code was going to a fan,” Fiacco explained.

The Taylor Swift concert was approximately three hours in length and it did not disappoint from the time Fiacco arrived in Toronto until the concert wrapped up Friday night.

“You were seeing sequenced, sparkles, and you were seeing some fans dressing in costumes interpreted from song lyrics or from her music videos, “Fiacco stated. “You were also seeing the errant Dad here and there following their daughters, which, for me, I think was one of my favourite parts – just seeing that joy in them.”

Songs from nearly every album that Swift has released were sung at the concert with the exception of her debut album. According to Fiacco, Swift did perform songs from her second album, “Fearless,” which included such singles as “You Belong With Me,” “Fearless,” and “Love Story.” Taylor Swift has three more performances scheduled for Toronto on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.
