Premier Scott Moe said it would be the first piece of legislation taken up by the newly constituted legislature, and it appears he is keeping that promise.
During the election campaign, Scott Moe and the Sask Party made a variety promises to try and make life more affordable with rising costs hitting everything from housing, to groceries.
The Sask Party resisted the temptation to cut the PST on some items, and reducing the gas tax immediately as the NDP had promised to do if it formed government.
According to the premier’s post on the social media platform “X”, the new legislation will include cutting income taxes, increasing the low income tax credit by 20 percent, creating a home renovation tax credit and keeping the small business tax rate at one percent.
The bill is expected to be introduced into the house this afternoon.
