Over 234,000 people passed through the gates at the Queen City Ex in 2019, making it the most attended fair in 35 years.

Concert attendance was up by 103 per cent, while more than seven-million-dollars was generated for the local economy.

Tim Reid, the President and CEO of the Regina Exhibition Association Ltd., said the Saskatchewan Roughriders game Thursday night also helped boost attendance.

“Yeah it sure did, about 17,000 people who were at the Riders game that night also came over to our side of the property,” Reid said. “I’m not sure what their overall attendance for that game was, but a strong percentage of people saw value in that and hopefully they saw an increase in their ticket sales, in fact we know they did,” Reid added.

Reid said on top of that it was very cool to see all the ride attendants wearing Rider green Thursday night.

Over the course of the five day event 125,000 Sweet Sugar Dusted Mini Doughnuts, 10,030 Candy Apples, 78,230 liters of Slush and 7,596 Corn Dogs were bought.

Reid also wanted to thank to entire Evraz staff for their efforts.

“Most importantly I want to recognize the amazing team that we have here at Evraz Place and the Regina Exhibition Association Ltd., we have some special people that program and deliver and make it all happen, so on behalf of our organization we’re really proud today and excited to start planning for next year,” Reid said.
