Another successful sighting of the CPKC Holiday Train on December 6th, as it came to a stop in Regina, Saskatchewan on a beautiful Friday. The traffic, whether on foot or curious drivers down Saskatchewan Drive was steady and heavy. A perfect night and the gateway to a weekend filled with Christmas / Holiday events from shopping, to music, decorating and preparing for which ever way you celebrate this month.
The Holiday Train appeared to be more festive and alluring than in other years, as families gather to get close to the train. This week the train will be rolling through Alberta with stops at Leduc, Ponoka, Innisfail taking the CPKC line into Calgary on December 14th and then on to British Columbia. Personally, some of my favourite times of seeing the train, is rolling through the night outside of Regina with music blasting and the lights flashing. Can you imagine seeing this as it rolls through the Canadian Rockies. What a sight! Our Canadian version may have rolled through Saskatchewan, but wait, there is one more stop to be made. Make the trip out on December 18th to 512 Railway Street in Weyburn to catch the US version of the Holiday Train. Seaforth and Alana Springsteen are on board to entertain train fans! Just a side note; Alana is touring with Keith Urban in the new year.
When the train stops and the entertainment car opens, the stage and the mood are set with fine Country/Pop Christmas music. Food banks across Canada thanking visitors for their donations. Each event is free, with CPKC encouraging every attendee to make a monetary or heart-healthy food donation to ease hunger needs in their community. Local food banks will be accepting donations at each stop to help ensure those in need can access adequate food this holiday season and year-round. Remember, if you were at the train, you can still donate to your local food bank.
The entertainment changes throughout the travels of the train, so it would be exciting to attend the Weyburn stop! Time: 6pm – 6:30pm (the Final Canadian Stop)
