Guinness World Records has released their list of the strangest world records from the past year. While most records are methodically planned out with a lot of work put in to them, some world records are just head scratchers.
Here are just a few of the odd and unusual Guinness World Records set in 20024:
World’s widest wig: Made with 800 bundles of hair, measuring 11 feet, 11 inches wide. The record was set in Nigeria
Most single grains of rice eaten in one minute using chopsticks: This record was set by a Sumaiya Khan of Bangladesh. She managed to eat 37 single grains of rice in one minute with just the use of chopsticks. CKRM’s Gloria Evans tried breaking this record this year, but only got to 23 grains of rice!
World’s largest building in the shape of a chicken: Yes, someone in the Philippines actually constructed a building in shape of a rooster measuring 114 feet, 7 inches tall, and home to 15 rooms. Hopefully the place doesn’t smell fowl (or foul).
Fastest motorized wheelbarrow: Dylan Phillips of the U.K. developed a motorized wheelbarrow capable of reaching 86.2 kilometers per hour!
The world’s smallest washing machine: A man in India built the smallest fully functioning washing machine. To prove it was legitimate he had to demonstrate a full wash cycle in the appliance which measures 1.28 inches by 1.32 inches by 1.52 inches. It’s perfect for washing an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini.
There were also world records for the longest skateboarding cat, longest journey in a pumpkin boat, and most items identified by a parrot in three minutes.
Here’s to 2025’s world records!
