Possible playoff preview in Saskatoon tonight for the Pats

 

Tonight, the Regina Pats will play their final road game of their 2022-23 regular season schedule in Saskatoon against the Blades.

It was a record-breaking crowd for the Blades at the SaskTel Centre on Sunday as the Pats earned a 4-2 win.

Connor Bedard achieved another milestone that afternoon with his 70th goal of the season.

The Pats captain is the Western Hockey League (WHL) leader in goals (70) assists (72) and points (142) heading into the final weekend.

It could be a playoff preview in the Bridge City this evening. A Lethbridge point or a Pats loss in the final two games of the year clinches a Highway #11 rivalry in the first round. of the playoffs.

Lethbridge will square off with the Red Deer Rebels in a home-and-home set this weekend in their final two games of the season.

Along with their victory in Saskatoon, the Pats picked up a road win win Moose Jaw against the Warriors on Saturday. The victory came one night after  Moose Jaw collected two points at the Brandt Centre.

Before Sunday’s loss to the Pats, Saskatoon were on the heels of a two-game winning streak. The Blades will finish the season with the second best record in the Eastern Conference but will settle with the third seed with the Rebels winning the Central Division.

If the Blades and Pats do meet in the first round, they will likely begin the series next Friday at the SaskTel Centre for Game 1.

Following tonight’s game, the Pats will finish the regular season at home against the Prince Albert Raiders on Saturday night. It’s Fan Appreciation Night at the Brandt Centre and before the game, the Player Awards will be handed out.
