COVID-19 hospitalizations at its lowest point since beginning of 2021

There are 211 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan on Thursday. Of those 211, 80 are in the Regina zone.

There are 142 recoveries bringing active cases to 1,493 and one more death is being reported as a person aged 80 plus who was in the northwest zone and tested positive for the virus has passed away meaning 380 people have now died since reporting on the pandemic started in March 2020.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (24), Far North Central (6), Far North East (3), North West (16), North Central (5), North East (3), Saskatoon (37), Central West (5), Central East (13), Regina (80), South West (1), South Central (7) and South East (4) zones.  Seven cases have pending residence information. Seven cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North East (2), North Central (3) and Regina (2) zones.

156 people are in hospital which is nine fewer than yesterday and the lowest number we have seen since January 1 when there were 142.  Of those 156, 38 are in Regina getting inpatient care with 18 people receiving intensive care including six in Regina.

3,104 tests were processed on Wednesday.  The seven-day daily average is 155 or 12.7 cases per 100,000 population

2,057 vaccines were delivered with almost 1,200 of those happening in Regina.

The province says 85 percent of long-term care residents have now gotten their first dose and 49 percent have received their second dose meaning they are fully vaccinated.
