COVID-19 may force Weyburn Travel Club to fly elsewhere

As of a result of the outbreak of COVID-19 in Italy, the Weyburn Travel Club may have to travel elsewhere.

The community group, consisted of mostly students, has plans to visit the historical sites of Rome, Venice, and Milan.

Although they are considering changing their plans, Jody Kerr with the Travel Club says that the Italy trip may still be a go.

“We’re scheduled for over the Easter Break, which gives us a little bit of time stil,” said Kerr. “One of our options is to choose a different destination because we don’t want to take away a trip from these kids.”

Kerr says the group is meeting Tuesday to try and figure out the best way forward.

Kerr adds that the group doesn’t want to be too hasty, and unnecessarily cancel the trip, but parents are happy that the group is thinking ahead.
