Unifor members could hit picket lines if Sasktel doesn’t change ‘flat wage’ offer

It’s looking more and more likely SaskTel workers will be taking job action.

Unifor, the union that represents about three thousand of SaskTel employees, says if the crown corporation doesn’t change their offer with two years of flat wages, they are ready to go on strike, and are in legal position to give 72 hours notice.

According to the union, the latest offer wouldn’t see a raise until 2021, and even then the offer on the table is one percent.

Chris Macdonald, a spokesperson for Unifor, says aside from wages, the union has issues with the crown contracting out work and pressure being placed on call centre employees.
