This last weekend we were at Rowan’s Ravine for a family get together. With around 25 people, we had a pretty busy little campsite going from breakfast until after the sun went down. There were a few of us who don’t have RV’s, so we just rented some cabins that were a short way away from our “ground zero” where everybody congregated.

The cabins weren’t fancy, basically just a place for us to lay our heads for the night. The darn things didn’t even have a bathroom! For that we had a short walk to the bathroom facilities which, fortunately, did have showers.

I’d be the first one up in the morning, so I’d put on a pot of coffee and make my way to the showers while the ladies stocked up on their beauty sleep. I’d be back from my shower and have a couple cups of coffee in me before the sleepyheads even woke up.

I don’t know what it was, but where I was parked at the cabin seemed to be an insect magnet. Whenever we went to the vehicle, there would be hundreds of little insects gathered on all the doors. We’d swat them away before opening the doors, but there would always be a lot that would make it into the vehicle before we had a chance to shut the doors behind us. I was swatting bugs on the dashboard the whole drive back to the city on Sunday morning.

Yesterday after work I made a stop at the car wash to give my little bug magnet a good old hose down.

At least the outside is clean. As for the inside, I’ve got a feeling I’ll be finding dead bugs lying around for the next year or so!
