RCMP Major Crimes Unit, coroner investigating sudden death in Swift Current

The Saskatchewan RCMP and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service have opened an investigation into a suspicious death that happened this week in Swift Current.

RCMP in Swift Current learned of an injured woman seeking help on March 4 at around 11:30 p.m. at an apartment building on the 200 block of 7th Avenue Northwest.

The woman told police there was a second injured woman before she was taken to hospital to be treated for her serious injuries. The second woman was found dead inside an apartment building on the 600 block of Chaplin Street.

The investigation led police to locate a third woman in a home on the 500 block of Colonel Otter Drive. She was arrested without incident just after 1:00 a.m. on March 5. According to police, all three women are known to each other.

Investigators are not seeking any other suspects and there is no risk to public safety at this time. Charges have not been laid.

As the investigation continues, RCMP is warning the public there will be an increased police presence at the three locations for the remainder of Friday. Non-residents are asked to avoid the area.
