After a breakout season, Riders receiver Shaq Evans is looking to build on that in what will be his 3rd CFL season and he is hoping to do it with the green-and-white.

The 29-year-old, who becomes a free agent in February, spoke with 620 CKRM’s Michael Ball on the Sportscage Friday to talk about his football future.

Evans, who had 72 catches for 1334 yards and 5 TD’s for the 13-5 Riders in 2019, says he wants to stay a Rider if possible.

“I love playing here and its the only place I know.” Evans said.  “This is definitely on the top of the list.  We have improved each year that I’ve been here and I am hoping it ends with a Grey Cup this year.”

Evans had a rough rookie campaign as he had a problem with drops. He says that was something he vowed he had to fix and that he did and became a much more reliable option for his quarterback.

“Going back and watching film and evaluating yourself, you see what the problem is.” Evans said. “During the off-season I said it was a problem I had to fix because those catches would have kept drives alive.  There were some that happened this year, but I had the right attitude and mentality this time around.  You have to move on to the next play quickly.”
