SARM president calls for more federal funding for rural infrastructure

SARM President Ray Orb is calling on Ottawa to provide more support to rural municipalities to rebuild crumbling infrastructure.

Orb is calling on Ottawa to provide more support for rural broadband service.

He adds rural municipalities need hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuild rural roads and bridges.

Orb is also worried some rural residents may be left out of COVID-19 vaccinations and wants to ensure everyone can receive the vaccine.

He speaks Tuesday at the two day SARM annual meeting, being held in a virtual format due to COVID-19.

Orb adds rural municipalities are upset with the Sask. Urban municipalities Association for taking the name Municipalities of Saskatchewan and wants SUMA to stop using the name.
