The Pats have announced their first trade of 2020.
Forward Ty Kolle has been shipped from Regina to the Everett Silvertips in a deal that sees the Pats receive 16-year-old prospect forward Ean Somoza, a fourth round pick in this year’s draft and a fifth rounder next year.
During his time with the Pats, Kolle amassed 23 goals and 16 assists for 39 points in 78 games. The Kamloops, B.C. native was originally acquired in November of 2018 from the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
“We wish Ty all the best in Everett,” said John Paddock, vice-president of hockey operations and general manager of the Pats. “He is an offensive player who will help the Silvertips down the stretch.”
Somoza comes from Thousand Oaks, California and was drafted in the 13th round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft by the Silvertips. Now he is playing with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings U16 squad where he has 14 goals and 29 points in 16 games.
“We are happy to add Ean to our prospect group,” mentioned Paddock in a media release. “The two draft picks in 2020 and 2021 are also important for our organization moving forward.”
The Pats are at home Saturday night when they host a rematch versus the Swift Current Broncos.
Pre-game on 620 CKRM gets underway at 6:35 p.m. and opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
