The province says there are now 70 confirmed variant of concern after the discovery of 26 more between February 12 and 20 from the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg and the Roy Romanow Provincial Lab in Regina.  All of the 26 new cases are the UK variant and come from the Regina zone.

The information comes as we are told about one new death, 111 new infections and 140 recoveries.  The death, which is the province’s 401st, is of someone aged 80 or over from the Regina zone.

Of the 111 new cases, Regina continues to see the highest with 41. Other new cases were located in the Far North West (3), Far North East (4), North West (11), North East (8), Saskatoon (26), Central East (8) zones.   With the 140 recoveries, the active case count now sits at 1,384. The 111 new cases now means the province has seen 30,029 cases.

139 people are in hospital with 27 of those 139 receiving intensive care.

The seven-day daily average is at 139 or 11.4 new cases per 100,000 population.

2,399 tests were processed on Tuesday.

874 vaccines were administered with the most being done in the north-central and northwest zones.
