Regina man faces aggravated assault and firearms charges after weekend assault

A 29 year old man is facing an aggravated assault charge and multiple firearm related charges for an incident on the weekend.

The Regina Police Service says several unites were called to the 3500 block of Saskatchewan Drive at about 4:00pm on Sunday for a report of a sick or injured person.

Police found a 27 year old man with several lacerations and blunt force injuries, and he was taken to hospital.

Investigation led to an address on the 1900 block of Athol Street where officers started creating a safety perimeter.

Further investigation led to the arrest of a man wanted on several outstanding warrants in Regina and the surrounding area, as well as connected to the Sask Drive assault.

A firearm was also located and seized.

Nicholas Pelletier is facing nine charges including aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition.

He made his first court appearance on Monday.
