Severe thunderstorm watches in Saskatchewan

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the central and eastern parts of the province.

The weather agency says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

A low pressure system tracking rapidly through the northern Grain Belt of Saskatchewan is triggering scattered thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon. Some of these thunderstorms could reach severe thresholds. The threat for severe thunderstorms will diminish Wednesday evening as the system tracks out of the province into Manitoba.

This severe thunderstorm watch may be expanded eastwards later in the afternoon or early evening as the system tracks southeastwards.
