It was a rough start for Team Canada at the 2023 IIHF World U18 Championships in Switzerland.

Canada was defeated by Sweden 8-0 in the opening game of the tournament.

Sweden opened up with a 5-0 lead and never looked back on their way to victory.

Next action for the Canadian squad will be tomorrow morning when they take on Germany.
