Charges for one suspect in the Tiki Laverdiere homicide investigation are being upgraded.

RCMP say based on further investigation, 23 year old Jesse Sangster of Edmonton is now facing first degree murder, kidnapping and improperly interfering with a human body charges.

Police say these are in addition to the previous charge of theft of a motor vehicle.

The previous charge of accessory after the fact to murder is being withdrawn when Sangster appears in court Friday.

RCMP say the investigation is still ongoing.
