SFL seeking COVID-19 plan in Wednesday’s provincial budget that helps workers

The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour is hoping Wednesday’s provincial budget includes a COVID-19 plan that helps workers in the public.

The SFL says public sector workers are on the front lines of the pandemic, adding anxiety is at an all time high.

President Lori Johb says they hope to see initiatives that include guaranteed paid leave for workers who must self-isolate and at least 14 paid sick days for all workers, all workers are compensated for lost wages if their workplaces close due to COVID-19, an injection of funding into all public services and facilities and the cancellation of all late payment and interest charges on utility bills for those self-isolating, and cease phone and internet cutoffs for people in self-isolation.

Johb says bottom line there are a number of measures to province can take in tomorrows budget to help relieve uncertainty around the province due to COVID-19.
