The Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan has announced fundraising is complete for a pair of 4D CT simulators for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
One simulator each will be placed at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina, and the other will be at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.
Just before he died in February, John Hopkins was able to access the service after helped raise $1 million for the campaign with the help of his Garage Band that played charity shows.
“Anyone who is going for cancer radiation treatment has to go through that particular simulator, and the fact that we ended up helping to buy this – I am pretty proud of that. Pretty proud of what we did,” said Hopkins in a written legacy interview left for his family.
The equipment at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre had been purchased in 2019 due to the large demand and retroactively paid for by the foundation. It took a little over two years to raise the necessary funds for the simulators.
