Councillor Cheryl Stadnichuck has been selected to represent city council on the Community and Social Impact Regina Inc. Board of Directors.
The selection ends a months-long search to replace Coun. Dan LeBlanc who was removed from the non-voting position following a motion from Mayor Sandra Masters. The Mayor filed the motion after LeBlanc, as a lawyer representing a city councillor and a resident, took city manager Niki Anderson to court over homelessness funding in the most recent municipal budget.
Council had previously looked to select Coun. Bob Hawkins to replace LeBlanc, but that motion was shot down at the March 22 council meeting.
Stadnichuck will serve as the member until the end of this year or until a successor is appointed.
Community and Social Impact Regina was created last year to advance the city’s community safety and well-being plan, with the goal of addressing “a number of pressure points and social issues that present barriers to safety and well-being in Regina.”
