Six people charged after shooting incident over the weekend

Six people are facing charges after shots were fired at a group of people over the weekend.

On Saturday evening, the Regina Police Service received a call stating a youth had fired a gun toward a group of young people on 6th Avenue and Athol Street.

Police searched the area and found three young people, one of whom matched the suspect’s description.

The three youths were detained, and police found a sawed-off rifle tucked into the waistband of a 14-year-old. The second suspect, a 17-year-old, was found to be in possession of a machete. The third person was released with no charge.

The 14-year-old was charged with various weapon offences, including assault with a weapon. The 17-year-old was also charged with possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police were also able to locate the ‘victim’ group. Within the group, police found two to breach release conditions; two had outstanding warrants, and one was in possession of a bullet.

A 19-year-old was charged with failing to comply with conditions release, a 15-year-old was charged with careless storage of firearm or ammunition, and two youths were also arrested on their outstanding warrants.

Two of the six already made their first court appearances, with the other four scheduled to make their first court appearance next month.
