The Regina Pats picked up their first win of the season Wednesday night, by a 3-2 score over the Swift Current Broncos.
Matthew Kieper made 32 saves for his first career WHL win, Connor Bedard had a goal and an assist, and now has eight points through his first four games, and Carson Denomie scored twice and is now tied for the league lead in goals with six.
After the game Denomie said it was nice to get the first win of the season after playing in games they felt they could’ve won.
“It’s been a long time coming,” he said. “I think we played three solid games before this and were capable of winning them all at one point or another, it’s definitely nice to get the first one out of the way and hopefully we can keep it rolling,” Denomie said.
The Regina native has found some chemistry with rookie sensation Connor Bedard, when asked about it, Denomie said the 15-year-old makes his job easier.
“He definitely makes a lot of stuff out there really easy, I kind of just have to get open and bury some shots, that’s kind of what my job is right now,” Denomie said.
The Pats (1-2-1-0) will get a couple nights off before they face the Brandon Wheat Kings (1-1-1-0) Saturday night from the Brandt Centre hub.
