Sask has booming business in manufacturing sales and wholesale trade

The Moe government says Saskatchewan is again leading the nation in year over year growth in the two key indicators of manufacturing sales and wholesale trade.

In March, the value of wholesale trade in Saskatchewan increased 29 percent compared to the previous March, first in terms of percentage change among provinces.

The increases in wholesale trade were led by farm products, food and beverage, and various merchant wholesaler categories.

Saskatchewan’s manufacturing sales rose 45 percent in March compared to a year ago, which was also first in terms of percentage change.

The year over year increase in manufacturing sales was led by increases in the chemical, food and wood products manufacturing areas.

Wholesale trade value in March was 3.2 billion dollars, while manufacturing sales were worth over 2.2 billion dollars.

Urban housing starts for April show a rise of 44 percent compared to a year ago.
