Teens arrested after shooting a BB gun outside of a school

Two teens have been arrested and are facing weapon and assault charges.

Yesterday morning, members of the RPS Community Engagement Unit were notified that a group of three females had been shot at.

The victims were standing outside of a school when they were shot at by a suspect in a vehicle.

One victim was struck but was not physically injured.

This incident put the school in lockdown for a brief period.

The investigation led police to the 800 block of Empress Street where they found a vehicle matching the suspect’s description.

Police surrounded the residence and made verbal contact with the occupants inside.

Two men were then taken into police custody without incident.

Two nearby schools were put into secure-the-building mode while police were on the scene.

Once the men were arrested, Police determined that the firearm they had was a BB gun.

As a result, a 17-year-old man, who cannot be named in accordance with provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with Discharge Air Gun or Pistol With Intent, and two Assault With A Weapon charges.

Also, 18-year-old Kieran Gibson, of Regina, has been charged with Discharge Air Gun or Pistol With Intent, two charges of Assault With A Weapon, and Uttering Threats.

Both men have already made their first appearances in court.
