Have you turned your furnace on yet?

It really feels like we’re living in England these days with all this rain we’ve been getting. In fact, England is looking far better according to their forecast thanks to some warm, sunny days and temps in the 20’s. Yes, this cold, damp weather back home in Regina has forced me to do something that can cause great divisions in homes across the prairies. Turning the furnace on.

Like many folks I resisted and resisted and not wanting to accept the fact that it’s that time of year. I didn’t want to accept the fact that the house is a little cooler than normal. Last night I finally relented realizing my small electric heater isn’t going to work for this. I got up, wiped away a single tear, and turned the fan and furnace on. I kept it at a cool, comfortable 19C, which means the furnace didn’t need to kick in very often, but still, it’s that realization that summer is winding down and those warm temps are becoming less frequent.

On the plus side, the leaves are changing colour and Saskatchewan is looking absolutely stunning right now. Thanks to all the rain this summer, the deep green trees, leaves, and grasses look incredible with the oranges, reds, and yellows out there. There is no season quite like that of autumn, it just sucks having to turn the furnace on!
