Although there is a chance of showers Friday, this weekend will be starting out with blue skies and temperatures slightly above seasonal Saturday.

But things take a turn for the wet on Sunday.

Terri Lang with Environment and Climate Change Canada said the province’s southeast is forecast to receive more rain Sunday than the southwest.

“Rainfall amounts are pretty variable, the models don’t agree but some regions could see as high as 25 millimetres, and if they get under a heavy shower or a thundershower it could be more than that,” Lang said.

Thankfully, Lang said the air stream pattern isn’t the same as the Colorado lows that dumped rain and snow in the southeast in previous weeks. But for the most part this is the seasonal weather we’ve been waiting for.

“This particular one is travelling south of the border, it’s going through Montana, so it’s just going to spread some more organized rain and showers into that southeast corner, but yeah (it’s) pretty typical at this time of year to get the showers.”

Temperatures will be cooler heading into early next week.
