On September 29th, people from all over Saskatchewan are invited to walk together in an excellent way to highlight truth and reconciliation.

Come late September; Mosaic Stadium will host Miyo-wîcîwitowin Day.

Chief of the Cowessess First Nations, Cadmus Delorme, said they hope the day sparks conversations.

“We want to bring people into one of the most well-known stadiums in the province, and let’s have this conversation, and from the conversations, they’ll be action plans, and from those action plans, Saskatchewan will be a stronger place for years to come.”

He said having conversations is an important step in truth and reconciliation.

“In 2022, nobody created residential schools, the sixties scoop, the Indian Act, but as Canadians and Saskatchewanians, and as Indigenous people, we inherited this,” he said, ‘We inherit something you have a responsibility to do something about it. We cannot change the past but our future. That generation depends on us to do something to make sure that we can make more happen.”

The event aims to bring 10,000 high school students, business leaders, and the general public together. There will be survivor stories, music, dance, keynote speakers, and a presentation to advance the 94 calls to action recommended by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Individuals and businesses are encouraged to take part to understand their unique role in supporting and furthering the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
