Regina Police Respond to Call by “Kid” whose Mom Turned off Wi-fi

Quite often social media affords us a look at the inner workings of a corporation or gives us insight we might not normally get.

In a tweet yesterday evening Constable Mike “Hawkeye” Seel offered this look at the types of calls Regina police officers are sometimes faced with.

The tweet read:

“Just responded to a call where a 23 year old called the cops on their mom, who they live with rent free, for turning off the wifi because they wouldn’t do chores. The 23 year old was told to leave if they didn’t like it.”

Constable Seel went on to say that the caller originally called 911 to report the mom- but 911 told her that the call was not an emergency – so she called the RPS admin line.

It’s worth noting that on average communications officers receive more than 200,000 administrative calls each year. 63,000 calls are made to 911 of which officers respond to more than 62,000.

This incident highlights the types of situations that Regina police officers can face, and the importance of using emergency services responsibly.
