APAS president says farmers face several issues this spring

APAS president Todd Lewis says farmers face some significant issues this spring.

Lewis was re-elected for a fifth year as president this week.

The carbon tax rises $10 a ton Thursday to $40.

Lewis says it is one of many concerns facing producers, including rural internet service, and review of the Canada Grain Act.

At the APAS virtual annual meeting, delegates rejected a proposed code of practice for grain farmers.

Lewis saying the proposals were too impractical for proper land and water management on Saskatchewan farms.
