Connor Bedard will be representing Canada internationally for the first time at the IIHF Under 18 World Championships will go in Frisco, Texas April 26-May 6.
Bedard, who has scored in all 10 of his games this season and leads the WHL in scoring with 19 points, will be leaving the club April 9 as players going to camp have to self-isolate at home starting April 12.
The 15-year-old from North Vancouver becomes the third double underager ever to be named to Team Canada for the U18 World Championship, joining fellow Canadian Hockey League exceptional status players Connor McDavid, and John Tavares.
Bedard will be back on the ice Friday night as Regina takes on Brandon in an 8 o’clock start in a game you can hear on 620 CKRM.
Another player who will be on the team is Regina’s Cole Sillinger. He is playing with Sioux Falls in the USHL right now.
