Sask Agriculture minister heads to U.S. for 5-day trade mission

Agriculture minister David Marit leads a trade mission to the U.S. next week.

Marit leaves Sunday June 12 for a 5 day trade mission, with stops in Denver, Colorado and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Marit says the mission will focus on canola, wheat, oats, malt barley, pulses and cattle and highlight Saskatchewan’s research and innovation capabilities.

The mission will strengthen Saskatchewan’s research and investment ties with U.S. industry and government.

Marit speaks at the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association annual convention on Tuesday June 14.

The U.S. is Saskatchewan’s top market for live cattle, with 152 million dollars in exports.

Saskatchewan agri-food exports to the U.S. were valued at more than 4.3 billion dollars last year, with key exports including canola products, oats and live cattle.
