Freezing Rain Warnings in effect for SW Sask. while Snowfall Warnings in place for central and eastern Sask.

UPDATE – The Freezing rain Warning has been expanded to now include Moose Jaw and surrounding area.

It’s been a messy start to the month of April weather wise, and Monday is no exception.

Environment Canada has issued Freezing Rain Warnings for parts of southwestern Saskatchewan, while Snowfall Warnings are in place for central and eastern parts of the province including the city of Saskatoon.

Snowfall totals are expected to be between ten and 15 cm’s, tapering off Monday evening.

Meanwhile a low in northern Montana is also spreading an area of mixed precipitation including freezing rain to areas in southwestern Saskatchewan.

The freezing rain may accumulate quickly before moving off later Monday morning, but surfaces will remain an icy hazard until temperatures climb above zero.

Road conditions are expected to be dangerous in both parts of the province with the weather office also warning of challenging road conditions in populated areas that see heavy amounts of snowfall.
