Free furnace tune-up available for qualified homeowners

If your furnace needs a tune-up but you don’t think you can afford one, SaskEnergy might have a solution for you.

A free home-heating tune-up assistance program, called TAP, is available for Saskatchewan homeowners whose annual household income before taxes is under $68,000 and you live within 25 kilometres of a SaskEnergy Network member.

Kevin Adair with SaskEnergy said in a media release that regular furnace tune-ups can prevent costly repairs down the road and help your family to be safe and warm on those days when you need your furnace the most.

“Since this program was launched five years ago, it has helped more than 2,300 homeowners across the province keep their furnaces in safe working order,” said Adair, who leads SaskEnergy’s Customer Service Operations.

TAP provides up to $400 worth of products and services to each qualified homeowner, including a free SaskEnergy Network home heating tune-up, up to $200 in repairs if needed, two free furnace filters, and a free carbon monoxide alarm.

Homeowners can apply here up until November 15th. Those who took part in the program last year are not eligible, and neither are renters. Eligible homeowners are encouraged to apply early as applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
