Pet Peeve 101: Let’s put the shopping carts back, please!

I don’t normally complain too often on here (after all, what good would it do) but sometimes you just have to let a gripe out and get it off the chest to feel better. Sunday afternoon was one of those days where I witnessed one of my biggest pet peeves—abandoning a shopping cart in a parking stall. Grrrr!

Oh yes, there is nothing more infuriating than pulling into a packed parking lot, finding a spot, and then having to get out to move a shopping cart because somebody was either too lazy or in such a hurry they couldn’t spare 90 seconds to put it back to the cart return area. This is especially frustrating during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

In this particular case, my parking stall was free however the next one beside me was home to a shiny, new shopping cart just sitting there looking for its home. Oh, I should mention that cart that was in the stall was RIGHT BESIDE the cart return area! As I got out of my vehicle I noticed an elderly couple who needed a parking spot and were very happy when I grabbed the cart and pushed it to where it should have been to begin with so that they could get in.

That brings me to my point. You never know who’s going to need the parking spot next. In this case it was and elderly couple and I doubt they, or anybody, lives over 75 years just to have to get out of their car to push someone else’s shopping cart out of the way because a previous visitor was in “too much of a hurry” to do it themselves. Whether it be a misplaced shopping cart or something else, lets all try to be a little more considerate of others in this life.

Phew! I feel much better now. Thanks.
