COVID-19 case numbers rise as ICU numbers continue to decrease

The provincial government reported 1412 new cases of the COVID-19 virus in the province.

Regionally 344 of the new cases are in the Saskatoon region, 334 are in the Regina area, and 168 cases are in the southeast. It’s also worth noting that the provincial update showed an increase of 170 confirmed cases of the Omicron Variant.

There are 131 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 including 8 in the ICU – a number which has dipped by 3 this week alone, a positive turn as no new deaths were reported.

On another positive note the province reported 347 recoveries, along with 2676 doses of the vaccine being administered.

The Province also reported a test positive rate of 32%. Regina and Saskatoon have test positivity rates that are higher than the provincial average. Regina showed a positivity rate of 42%, Saskatoon showed a rate of 38%.
