The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation is hoping to avoid any delays to fishing season due to COVID-19.
Darrell Crabbe Executive Director with SWF says some jurisdictions are delaying their opening days but he hopes it doesn’t happen in Saskatchewan, saying it as a perfect opportunity to get out doors and avoid the crowds and line-ups.
Crabbe says Saskatchewan has one of the highest levels of participation in recreational angling in North America. With somewhere between 25 to 30 percent of the province’s population going fishing at least once a year.
Crabbe says they Federation is looking forward to another good season, with May 5th the expected opening day for fishing in the southern section of the province, and the wildlife federation hoping to open spawn camps later in April on the 24th.
