Regina police responded to 16 calls regarding possible health order violations during Easter weekend

For the most part, it would appear as if Reginans did stay home for the Easter weekend and did what was asked by avoiding large family gatherings.

Regina Police say they did take 16 calls involving the COVID-19 public health order. No tickets were issued, however one of them was for a large family gathering.

Police say there was a language barrier involved and that there was a misunderstanding of the order.

Some of the other calls were for people playing or exercising in a park with another call involving a gathering of around 20 people being made, but that gathering had dispersed by the time officers arrived.

Only one ticket has been issued for violating the health order. A 23-year-old woman, who was not complying with self-isolation rules and later tested positive for the virus, was fined $2,800.

If you think you are seeing a violation of the public health order, you can phone a 24-hour line that has been set up at 1-855-559-5502.
