City of Regina encouraging tree banding to prevent cankerworms

The City of Regina is asking residents to band their trees to help stop cankerworms.

Here’s how:

• Wrap a 6-inch strip of insulation around the tree about one to two metres off the ground
• Cover the insulation with a plastic garbage bag and secure with duct tape
• Cover the plastic with your sticking agent like axel grease, Tanglefoot or Stick-em

Banding should be removed in mid May to keep tree bark in good shape.

The City says for more information go to their website.
