Canada-U.S. border to stay closed for another month

Canada and the United States agreed Friday to extend the closure of the border for another 30 days.

Travel restrictions across the Canada-U.S. border came into effect on March 21st. The restrictions exempted the flow of trade and commerce, as well as essential health-care workers who live and work on opposite sides of the border.

After U.S. President Donald Trump announced a three-stage plan to reopen parts of the country, Canada said that the decision to lift travel restrictions will not be made unilaterally by the States.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that he is in “constant” talks with Trump about each country’s response ton COVID-19, including the closure of the border.
